Damascus, SANA – People’s Assembly Speaker, Hammoudeh Sabbagh, affirmed that Syrian-Iraqi relations are deep, hailing Iraq’s continuous support to Syria in various fields.
Sabbagh, meeting a delegation from Iraqi Parliament, expressed his appreciation for the Iraqi parliament’s response to the invitation addressed to it to keep pace with the presidential election process and to inspect its course on May 26th.
He called for the development of the Syrian-Iraqi parliamentary relations and pushing them forward to achieve the aspiration of the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, member of the Iraq ‘s Parliament, Katei Al-Rikabi, affirmed his country’s firm stance in support of Syria, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, indicating that the Syrian presidential elections represent a victory of the will of the Syrian people.
The Speaker also met a delegation of the Iranian Islamic Shura council, headed by Zahraa al-Lahian, Chairman of the Human Rights’ Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Council.
Sabbagh described as deep and strong the Syrian-Iranian relations, expressing his thanks to the Council for responding to the invitation addressed to it to participate in accompanying the presidential elections and his appreciation for Iran’s permanent support to the Syrian people in all fields.
For her part, Al-Lahian considered that the presidential elections that will be held on May 26th, represent an important and turning point in the modern history of Syria and contribute directly to achieving a bright and prosperous future for the Syrian people.
