Damascus, SANA- Syria received on Saturday 150 thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccines provided by China.
Upon receiving the shipment, Health Minister Dr. Hassan al-Ghabbash said that China’s initiative to supply Syria with 150 thousand doses of Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine reflects deep –rooted relations of friendship between the two countries.
Al-Ghabbash voiced appreciation over China’s efforts to contain coronavirus pandemic and develop anti-virus vaccination, which is an important scientific step and a great contribution to humanity.
The minister thanked China for supporting Syria , whether by offering medical supplies or by scientific expertise and vaccines, especially in light of the conditions which the country has been facing due to the economic unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the country.
For his part, Chinese Ambassador in Damascus, Feng Biao, said that the arrival of the first batch of Chinese vaccines reflects the good feelings of his country’s government and people for Syria and marks a new page for the Syrian-Chinese cooperation in combating the pandemic.
“We are confident that the Chinese vaccine will help Syria fortify its defense against the pandemic” He added.
