Damascus, SANA –Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, on Wednesday received credentials of Eyad Nasr, the new resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Syria.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between Syria and the UNFPA, and developing the strong and positive relations between the two parties through the adoption of mutual trust in all activities carried out by the Fund in Syria.
The UNFPA representative stressed the Fund’s interest in continuing to work and cooperate with the Syrian government in a way that contributes to achieving goals that go beyond direct humanitarian relief and help improve citizens ’livelihood and the sustainability of work in the domains of health care and social support for the Fund’s programs.
For his part, Minister al-Mikdad appreciated the standing cooperation with the UNFPA and wished the new resident representative success in his duties, stressing the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government to ensure the achievement of the aspired-for outcomes of the Fund work and increase the effectiveness of its activities in all Syrian regions.
