Tartous, SANA -The General Authority of the Children’s Hospital in Tartous announced the first recovery case for a three-and-a-half-year-old child infected with the Coronavirus.
The director general of the authority, Dr. Yasser Jouriyeh, said in a statement to SANA that the child visited the authority on the thirteenth of this month and he suffered from an upper respiratory tract infection, and his condition developed at night, and he had signs of respiratory failure with stridor and prolonged exhalation, so he was admitted to intensive care and given the necessary aid.
Jouriyeh pointed out that the child began to respond to treatment and gradually improved, and the medical staff did not have to put him on intubation or mechanical ventilation, but because of the symptoms that he had, a PCR swab was performed regarding the Corona virus and the result was positive, noting that the treatment was continued within the hospital until his condition completely improved and he got out of the hospital on the seventeenth of this month, to the home, with an emphasis on his parents on the necessity of complete isolation and adherence to the instructions of the specialist.
He added that the child’s case is the only one that has come to the hospital with a proven infection with the virus, pointing out that this does not rule out the existence of other infections that have not yet been diagnosed, calling on everyone to follow the utmost means of protection and prevention from the virus.
