SANA participates in press photo exhibition about life during COVID-19

Seoul, SANA_ The Syrian Arab News Agency SANA participated in the exhibition of press photos portraying the life during the novel coronavirus.

The exhibition entitled “At the Scenes of the Pandemic,” was opened at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in central Seoul on Tuesday.

The South Korean Yonhap News Agency, which is organizing the exhibition in its capacity as the head of “OANA” clarified that he exhibition featured 120 photos taken by photographers at 47 news agencies around the world including news agencies from the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

It gives the visitors a chance to see how the world dealt with the unprecedented pandemic, as the pictures taken in 70 cities around the world document how people are living their lives and engaging in acts of care and devotion despite the risks of infection and death due to Corona.

The photos were curated into themes of a Beginning Without an End; Control versus Freedom; World in Standstill, Contact-free is New Norm; and Cooperation, Togetherness and Final Photos.

SANA participated in the exhibition with several press photos taken by its photographers during their coverage of the pandemic and the precautionary measures taken by the state to confront the outbreak of the virus.

Under the theme of “Beginning Without End” the participated photo, taken last March 20, documents a car sterilization campaign in the streets and neighborhoods of Damascus.

Under “Control versus Freedom” theme, SANA participated through a photo documenting the curfew in Damascus from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning in last April 20 .

Under the theme of “World in Standstill” SANA took part by a photo from a mosque during last May showing the continuation of the Friday prayers within the measures of spatial distancing to confront the Corona virus.

Yonhap News Agency’s President and Chief executive officer Cho Sung-boo said that while reviewing the photos, we are reminded of our responsibility to overcome the crisis and give good news in the post-corona era through alliance and cooperation of the whole world as a united society.

Choi Jang-heon, the museum’s acting director hoped that this photo exhibition can help provide comfort and hope to everyone who is struggling through this difficult time.

The exhibition will last until the first of next March.
