Khaji: Western countries politicize humanitarian issues in Syria to achieve their political goals

Tehran, SANA- Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, affirmed on Saturday that Western countries politicize the humanitarian issues in Syria to achieve their political goals.

Khaji criticized, during his meeting with UN special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, in Tehran, some Western countries which did not participate in the International Conference on Return of Syrian Refugees, which took place recently in Damascus.

“The Western countries, which claim defending the humanitarian issues, have made political goals and they tried to hinder the convening of theInternational Conference on Return of Syrian Refugees.” He said.

Khaji pointed out to the importance for continuing efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and the continuation of the meetings of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution.

Pedersen, for his part, briefed the Iranian side on the latest arrangements made with members of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution in regard with the agenda and timing of the coming meetings of the Committee.
