Ankara, SANA-The death toll from Izmir earthquake, which Friday hit the Aegean Sea offshore Izmir city west of Turkey has reached up to 105, while hundreds of injuries have been reported.
Anadolu News Agency quoted Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) as saying in a statement that the number of victims has amounted to 105, while the number of injuries has reached up to 1027 persons, 144 of whom are still receiving treatment at the hospitals.
The Management pointed out that after the earthquake, 1508 aftershocks have been registered, 44 of which were over 4.0 magnitude.
Turkey one of the most seismically active spots in the world as the country is located between active fault lines and it has witnessed many earthquakes previously.
