Damascus, SANA- Within the activities of the National Environment Day, which is held under the title ( Our Environment are Our Trust… Our Forest are Our Responsibility) on Monday , Governorate of Damascus organized an environmental march from Khaled Ibn Al-Walid Street to the Citadel of Damascus, and olive and orange trees were planted in al-Mawaziny garden behind the Damascus Hospital (al-Mujtahid).
The march, which set off from al-Mujtahid Hospital and ended at the Citadel of Damascus, with the participation of popular organizations and unions, civil societies and volunteer teams, aims to spread awareness of everyone’s responsibility towards the environment and its preservation and hygiene.
The Environment Director at Damascus Governorate, Eng. Wadiha Juha, affirmed in a statement to SANA the importance of community’s participation in maintaining the cleanliness of streets and public parks and planting trees that contribute to the purification of the cities ’air and its aesthetics, calling for raising the level of environmental awareness among community members.
