Mikdad: Syria and India to continue coordination and go ahead in carrying out projects in Syria

Damascus, SANA- A virtual meeting was held on Thursday between Syria and India in the context of the joint Syrian –Indian committee for discussing the bilateral relations between the two countries in the political, economic and technical domains along with activating what had been agreed upon in the committee’s meetings.

The Syrian side was chaired by the Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad and the Indian side chaired by Minister of State for External Affairs Vellamvelly Muraleedharan.

Mikdad talked about the historic relations that link the two countries and means of strengthening them, hailing the continued Indian support for Syria during the terrorist war against it, in addition to the Indian stances that support Syria to preserve its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

For his part, the Indian minister stressed his country’s standing by Syria and providing all the health, economic and political support, in addition to backing it in the war against terrorism.

In a statement to journalists, Mikdad stressed the joint will of the two countries to go ahead into the strategic relations, clarifying that Coronavirus pandemic prevented holding the committee’s meetings directly, so invitation was sent to hold this virtual meeting in order to continue the communication.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that the agenda was rich, as the bilateral relations in the political, economic, social and cultural fields have been discussed, describing the discussions as excellent.

He added that there was an agreement to continue the political coordination and going ahead in projects that were initiated by the Indian companies in Syria in different domains, in addition to reviewing new agreements to facilitate India’s participation in the reconstruction.
