Al-Kizbari: Syria rejects external interference in the work of committee of discussing the constitution

Geneva, SANA – Head of the national delegation to the meetings of committee of discussing the constitution in Geneva, Ahmed al-Kizbari affirmed rejection of any external interference in the committee’s work.

“The committee is led and owned by Syria, and the UN which facilitates its work must not allow any intervention in its work,” Al-Kizbari said in a phone call with the Syrian TV channel.

As for the meeting of the US official, James Jeffrey, with the other delegations, al-Kizbari said “the West’s interventions and its attempt to direct the other delegations has been done in previous meetings under the table, but during this round, it became clearly through statements of James Jeffrey and his meetings with these delegations, and this affirms what the Syrian state has announced earlier about Western interventions  in the political track, and now this intervention extends to the committee’s work, and we will not accept it at all, and the UN should not allow this intervention because it facilitates the work of the committee .”

Concerning today’s meeting, al-Kizbari added “we have an agreed upon agenda, which is discussing basic national principles, and the national delegation stressed on the first day of the meetings the importance of the principle of adhering to the national identity that gathers the Syrian people.”

He also stressed that the national identity is the mean to enhance belonging to the homeland in the face of all the ideas and projects that pose threat to territorial integrity of Syria.

Al-Kizbari pointed out that during today’s session that lasted for three hours, the national delegation submitted “points of regulations” because what has been presented by some parties contradict the principle and the agenda agreed upon.
