Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Ministry condemned, with the strongest terms, the continued crime perpetrated by the Turkish regime which cuts off water to about more than one million Syrian citizen in Hasaka city and its vicinity, affirming that cutting off water is a war crime and a crime against humanity.
“The Turkish regime and its tools, and through a bless by the US Administration and terrorists, used water as a war weapon against Syrian civilians, of women, children and elders, for inhumane political purposes, cutting water off Allouk station for 16 times during the latest months,” the Ministry said in a statement.
It added that the Syrian State, Hasaka officials and Syrian humanitarian organizations have assumed their responsibilities in an honest manner to face that catastrophe, securing drinking water for the majority of the citizens, but the needs exceeded all possibilities and expectations because of the US and Turkish occupation of the northern and western parts of Syria.
The Ministry stressed that Syria recalls that what Hasaka witnesses of catastrophes came as an embodiment to the goals of US and Turkish military occupation of territories in Syria.
It added that the coalition of the Turkish-US military forces with Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusra and QSD terrorists is an aggression on Syria’s sovereignty and independence, as well as a grave violation of the international law and rules of the UN.
The statement concluded “Time has come for this occupation to end.”
