General condition of cotton crop in Deir Ezzor is good

Ezzor, SANA- The Deir Ezzor Agricultural Directorate confirmed that the general condition of the cotton crop throughout the province is good and that there are only limited cases of plant pests.

Head of the Agriculture Directorate Mahmoud al-Hayyo said in a statement to SANA reporter on Tuesday that the cotton crop is in good condition and promises a remarkable season, as the requirements of farmers have been secured and the distribution of seeds that are suitable to the nature of geography and weather in the province.

Al-Hayyo also clarified that the planned area for cultivation of cotton crop in the province for the current season is 14300 hectares, of which 12200 hectares were planted, and the crop’s condition is continuously monitored by the prevention department as there are no cases of plant pests except minor individual ones that are treated immediately.

He pointed out that work is underway to secure the irrigation water and accomplish irrigation by providing electricity and fuel for generators.
