Renowned Arab singer and actress Sabah passes away

Beirut, SANA – After leaving a remarkably indelible mark on radio, TV screen, theatre and in cinema, famous Lebanese singer and actress Sabah passed away early on Wednesday at the age of 87.

The Lebanese national news agency announced the death of the renowned artist Jeanette Gergis Al-Feghali- Sabah’s given name- whose fame spread all over the Arab world and beyond.

Sabah, who was also nicknamed “Shahroura”, performed at Olympia in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Piccadilly Theatre in London and Sydney Opera House in Sydney.

After establishing a notable local fame in Lebanon, the news agency said, Sabah was given the opportunity to act in Egypt where she achieved a great fame . She had 83 movies and 27 Lebanese-produced plays to her name, in addition to over 3000 songs.
