Number of Damascus businessmen launch initiatives to reduce prices

Damascus, SANA- A number of Damascus businessmen have launched initiatives to reduce prices by 10-25 % for basic food items, consumer products, clothes, and shoes.

During their meeting on Sunday with the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Talal al-Barazi, the businessmen reviewed the state of the trade markets, means for ensuring the flow of the products to them, stabilizing and decreasing prices to safeguard the interests of the businessmen and citizens alike, and tackling any issue affecting these efforts.

The Minister al-Barazi asserted the necessity of cooperation and joint work between the government and the businessmen, calling on them to start taking initiatives to reduce the prices and to run discounts in Damascus to set an example to be follow in other provinces.

In their turn, a number of businessmen called for keeping the markets open till 10 pm to return the trade movement to the way it was, and supporting the farmers and the producers through marketing some products that they can’t market themselves, in addition to preventing the export of the materials that the market needs nowadays such as vegetables, fruit, and meat.

They also called for forming a joint committee between the Ministry and experienced businessmen to set appropriate prices for the basic materials, food, clothes, etc…
