Damascus, SANA- Health Ministry on Thursday received a second batch of aid from the People’s Republic of China to support the health sector’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic that included medical protective clothing for single use, masks, safety goggles, sterilization materials, thermometers, as well as personal protective equipment for the medical cadres tasked with tackling the virus, and that comes within the framework of the distinguished relations binding the two friendly countries.
Ambassador of China in Damascus Feng Biao affirmed that his country is going ahead to enhance cooperation with Syria in confronting coronavirus pandemic, and provide all possible medical assistance to the Syrian people to protect the public health in both countries.
Assistant Minister of Health Ahmad Khelifawi said that the Chinese medical aid will support the Ministry’s efforts in the fight against coronavirus, especially that health sector in Syria has been facing major challenges , which resulted in difficulties in ensuring medical equipment and supplies due to the economic sanctions imposed on the country , in addition to acts of sabotage and destruction which had been caused to the sector by the terrorist organizations during the terrorist war on Syria.
He pointed out to the deeply-rooted relations binding the two governments and peoples of the two countries, pointing out to the continuous cooperation between the Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Damascus since the spread of the virus in the world.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health received the first batch of aid from China on the 15th of last April and it included test kits to diagnose coronavirus infections, and previously the two sides have exchanged medical experiences via the internet between doctors at hospitals in both friendly countries with regard to confronting the novel coronavirus.
