Foreign Ministry makes explanation on return of Syrian citizens stranded abroad

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Thursday made an explanation regarding the instructions it has issued on the return of the Syrian citizens stranded abroad in light of the measures taken by most countries in the world to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, especially those related to border closure, and travel restrictions.

In a statement in response to the inquires of some citizens, the Ministry said that registering of the names of those willing to return to Syria according to the instructions will be done at the Syrian embassies and consulates.

The Ministry added that those who have already registered their names have no need to register their names again as they can just communicate with the embassy and consulate  by phone or via e-mail or any other way to notify them of the date of leaving Syria in order to update the name lists of those willing to return in preparation to programming the Syrian flights to bring them back home.

On Wednesday, the Ministry said in a statement that the return of the Syrian civilians abroad includes the citizens stranded abroad who left Syria from January 1st , 2020 until May 1st, 2020, the students willing to return homeland due to suspension of studies at educational institutions in the countries where they are studying in , and the employees delegated with official missions who were unable to return due to the closure of the border between countries.
