Damascus, SANA- Within their daily programs and their websites and pages on the social networking websites, the Syrian national T.V. channels are broadcasting awareness-raising videos on ways to tackle the coronavirus diseases under title “For Syria, stay at Home” which are produced by the Developmental Media Directorate at the Information Ministry with the voluntary participation of a number of artists, doctors, athletes and Syrian public figures.
In a statement to SANA, Director Zuhair Qanou’a, who supervises the campaign, said that the campaign has been prepared in cooperation and coordination with the Information Ministry, adding that the campaign covers all the issues which are related to the corona pandemic and ways to tackle it by the people.
Qanou’a noted that there are many awareness videos on the coronavirus have been completed within the campaign and are currently being broadcast in the breaks, adding that other awareness videos will be accomplished successively and they are related to pregnant women and to children and many of the necessary awareness-raising topics related to this topic.
The aim of the campaign, according to Qanou’a, is to support the efforts exerted by the Syrian society and the Ministry of Information which call on people to stay at their homes as much as possible to curb this dangerous pandemic and limit its spread, indicating that there are new awareness campaigns that are currently being prepared aimed at fighting the high prices and calling for social solidarity.
Regarding the extent of the risk that working conditions carry in these days in public places, Qanou’a considered that the motives of these voluntary campaigns relate to the duty of artists to support the work of doctors who risk their lives in medical work as a complementary awareness work as our war against this pandemic is a real war and we cannot give up our role in it.
He added that the campaign is implemented through small teams that follow the most cautious methods of disinfection during the work.
“We call on the Syrians, as we enter the serious curve in this crisis, to stand by each other and to support the mostly affected families, and abide by government’s instructions and advice to stay at home so that we can limit the spread of the pandemic and we will be less affected by more awareness and cooperation,” Qanou’a concluded.
