Pedersen calls for a political solution to the crisis in Syria in line with resolution No.2254

New York, SANA-UN special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, affirmed the need for the political solution to the crisis in Syria according to UN Security council resolution No. 2254 which calls for respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“It was not possible to hold sessions within the 2nd round of the committee of discussing the constitution in Geneva in late November because of disagreement on the agenda,” Pedersen said in a briefing to the UN security council, hoping a date for the coming round would be fixed.

He stressed that the work of the committee of discussing the constitution should be under leadership of Syria totally, based on principles which call for respecting Syria’s sovereignty in line with UN resolution No. 2254.
