Damascus, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh on Sunday met a German parliamentary delegation headed by MP Frank Pasemann.
During the meeting, Sabbagh said Syria is open to dialogue and cooperation with all parliamentary and diplomatic delegations, calling on the delegation members to relay what they witnessed in Syria to the German and European public opinion.
The Speaker pointed out that the sanctions have affected all segments of the Syrian people, wondering how some states and governments can claim to be fighting terrorism when they support the aggression against Syria.
For his part, Pasemann said that German mass media is attempting to distort facts about the situation in Syria, noting that prior to their visit, the delegation members submitted a memo to the Bundestag on restoring diplomatic relations and lifting the sanctions imposed on Syria.
He also said they will work to launch projects that benefit both countries, including establishing an office for political, economic, and social cooperation.
