Al-Kizbarai: meetings of the expanded committee “good”

Geneva, SANA-Head of the Syrian government- backed delegation to the committee of discussing the constitution, Ahmad al-Kizbari,  described meetings of the expanded body of the committee as good, adding that they approved a note of conduct and procedures that govern the work of small and expanded committees.

“We started discussions about the note of conduct and the procedures in Damascus and there were meetings with UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, we have exchanged view points on this issue and held some meetings in Geneva to reach the final formula which was approved today,” Kizbari said at a press conference on Friday.

He added that the small committee will start its work on Monday and will last for one week, hoping the next meetings would be held in Damascus.

“Seriousness will be determined by work when we start actually,” Kizbari said.

UN Special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, for his part, reaffirmed that the work of the committee of discussing the constitution is a Syrian process, led and owned by the Syrians and the topics concentrate on achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people.

“We have agreed on the agenda, note of conduct… and we have agreed on the 45 members of the small committee that will meet next Monday,” Pedersen added.
