People’s Assembly delegation meets IPU President, French and British delegations

Belgrade, SANA- Delegation of the People’s Assembly to the 141st  General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently held in the Serbian capital city of Belgrade discussed with  IPU President  Gabriela Cuevas Barron, the latest developments in Syria.

During the meeting, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Head of the Syrian delegation, Najdat Anzor reviewed the latest developments in Syria and the return of normal life to all the areas which have been liberated by the Syrian Arab army from terrorism.

Anzor referred to the dangers of the aggression launched by the Turkish regime on Syria’s territorial integrity as it is considered a breach of all international law and conventions.

For her part, Barron noted  that the Turkish  aggression on Syria constitutes a violation of the international law and it contributes to increasing tension , in addition to hindering the UN efforts for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

The delegation also met the French National Assembly’s delegation headed by Member of the Assembly Hubert Julien Laferriere.

During the meeting, the French delegation expressed deep concern over the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories.

The French delegation stressed that the Turkish aggression undermines peace process and the efforts which have been exerted by the UN over the past years, as well as it will increase the suffering of the Syrian people and causes more displacement of people.

For their parts, members of the Syrian delegation asserted that Erdogan’s regime and a number of countries have launched an aggression on the Syrian territories since the beginning of the terrorist war on Syria through facilitating the infiltration of terrorists into Syria after training and arming them.

On the move of the Syrian Arab army towards the Syrian-Turkish borders, the delegation  said that the army is doing its duty in facing the aggression and protecting Syrian citizens with all their spectrums and loyalties.

The Syrian delegation called on the French government to review its policies towards Syria, stop its support to the US policies , particularly its support to the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US on Syria which affected the livelihood of the Syrian people.

In the same context, the Syrian delegation met the British delegation to the IPU meetings headed by John Whittingdale, member of the British House of Commons.

The British delegation expressed deep concern over the latest Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories , adding that it only contributes to destabilizing the region and doesn’t contribute to achieving peace in  Syria.

The Syrian delegation called on the European delegations to visit Syria in order to get acquainted with the real situation in the country.
