Rouhani: Turkish aggression on Syria unacceptable

Tehran/Belgrade, SANA- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory is unacceptable, and that it destabilizes security in the region.

During a press conference on Monday, Rouhani called on Turkey to cease its aggression, stressing that everyone must respect Syria’s unity and sovereignty.

He also called for maintaining the Astana track because it is the best way to find a political solution for the crisis in Syria.

Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani reaffirmed necessity of depending on the political solution to the crisis in Syria.

During a meeting with Speaker of the Algerian Parliament Suleiman Shanin in the Serbian capital city of Belgrade on sidelines of the 141 Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Larijani  said that Iran since the beginning of the crisis in Syria and the war in Yemen has suggested a political dialogue, yet some states have insisted on the war.

Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, for his part, affirmed his country’s support to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian and Yemeni territories.

He asserted rejection of military interference in other countries, underlining necessity of depending on dialogue and laying the bases of security and stability in the region.
