Damascus, SANA- An Iranian delegation , headed by Road and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami, on Wednesday discussed separately with a number of Syrian ministers means of enhancing cooperation in trade, housing, transport, and reconstruction fields.
Economy and External Trade Minister Mohammad Samer al-Khalil discussed with Eslami , who heads the Syrian-Iranian Joint High Committee for economic cooperation and the accompanying delegation, ways of bolstering trade and economic exchange and broadening investment between the two countries.
The two sides affirmed the need for encouraging companies in Syria and Iran to increase the volume of trade exchange by establishing a railway connecting the two countries , and opening the border crossings between Syria and Iraq.
In a statement to SANA, Minister Khalil said that a number of agreements for long – term strategic economic cooperation between the two countries were signed over past months.
For his part, Minister Eslami pointed out that Damascus International Fair is an important opportunity for businessmen to get acquainted with the requirements of the Syrian markets and enhance trade exchange between Syria and others countries.
In a relevant context, Minister of Public Works and Housing Suhail Abdullatif discussed with Eslami mechanism of possible cooperation in reconstruction, housing, and infrastructure between both countries.
Transport Minister Ali Hammoud also met Eslami and the accompanying delegation , expressing Syria’s willingness to increase cooperation with Iran in transportation field.
He stressed the need to implement a project linking Syria and Iran by a land line and a railway to facilitate the flow of goods and products between the two countries.
