Damascus, SANA – The activities of the 2nd Scientific Assembly for the teams of the Syrian Science Olympiad kicked off on Saturday at the General Agency of Martyrs Children Schools.
The event brings together 120 students from the 11th and 12th grades who make up the Olympiad teams for math, physics, chemistry, IT, and biology, in addition to students who wish to participate in the new season of the Olympiad.
The event, which is organized by the Syrian Science Olympiad department at the Distinction and Creativity Agency, will continue until August 30th, concluding the scientific activities of the Syrian Science Olympiad for the 2018-2019 season, and it seeks to prepare team members for participating in international events in 2020, as well as introducing new students to this experience.
Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad at the Distinction and Creativity Agency Nubugh Yassin said that the Assembly involves theoretical training at the Martyrs Children Schools and practical training at Damascus University, the Higher Institute for Applied Science and Technology, and the Atomic Energy Agency.
She added that the event also includes cultural, social, and sporting entertainment events.
In 2019, Syrian Science Olympiad teams won a silver medal, 7 bronze medals, and 3 certificates of appreciation.
