Nur-Sultan, SANA – The Syrian delegation, headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, held a meeting with the Russian delegation, headed by Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, within the 13th round of Astana talks on settling the crisis in Syria.
Moreover, the Syrian delegation held a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by the senior assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister in Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji.
The delegation also held a meeting with the Iraqi delegation presided by Iraq’s Ambassador in Moscow, Haidar Mansour Hadi, who is participating in the 13th round of Astana talks as an observer.
Earlier the Russian and Iranian delegations held a meeting at the outset of the round of talks.
13th round of talks about settling the crisis in Syria of Astana formula kicked off on Thursday in Kazakhstan Capital, Nur-Sultan, with the participation of the Syrian delegation headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari and the other delegations.
The Syrian delegation arrived in Nur-Sultan on Thursday morning to participate in the two-day talks.
Delegations of the guarantor states of Astana process (Russia, Iran and Turkey) also arrived today, as the Russian delegation is presided by Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev as the Iranian delegation is presided by the senior assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister in Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji.
A delegation from the United Nations as observers is presided by Khawla Matar, Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Syria and representatives from Lebanon and Iraq for the first time, in addition to representatives from Jordan.
