Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday exchanged cables of congratulation on the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Federal Russian Republic.
In his cable, President al-Assad on his own behalf and on behalf of the Syrian Arab people, expressed utmost pride over the historic friendship and the brotherly ties binding the Syrian and Russian peoples.
The President affirmed the keenness of the Syrian Arab Republic as a government and people on going forwards in enhancing relations and upgrading them in all domains in a way that would achieve the mutual benefit of the two countries and would serve their interests.
President al-Assad indicated that we in Syria have always been and we will remain assured of the relations with Russia as they are built on solid bases of confidence and mutual respect and because Russia has proven throughout history that it is a superpower in the sense of respecting the international law and the noninterference in the internal affairs of the states and respecting the will of the peoples and working on laying the bases of security and stability all over the world, in addition to spreading the values of love and peace in the face of the terrorism and the obnoxious extremism which is backed by some states to serve their narrow interests.
The President noted that the Syrian people highly appreciate the bravery and courage of the Russian heroes who have effectively contributed to combating terrorism on the Syrian territories, and they highly appreciate Russia’s standing by Syria at the international forums in defend of its sovereignty and independent decision, in addition to the noble humanitarian stances adopted by Federal Russia and its people towards the Syrian people.
In his cable, President Putin, for his part, affirmed that his country will continue to support Syria in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity and will help it in the reconstruction.
“Wide experience has been gained over the past decades in the bilateral cooperation in different domains, and today Russia and Syria ally with each other in the face of combating the international terrorism and extremism,” President Putin said.
He added …”I am confident that mutual efforts will achieve the final triumph over terrorism on the Syrian territories,” asserting that Russia will continue to provide help for the Syrian Government and its people to defend the sovereignty and safety of the homeland and to guarantee the national security and the reconstruction.
President Putin went on saying ” We depend on the fact that continuing to develop the Russian-Syrian relations comes in line with our joint interests and pushes forwards the track of enhancing peace and security on the regional and international levels.”
In the same context, Prime Minister Imad Khamis exchanged cables of congratulation with Russian Prime Minister Demetri Medvedev on the same occasion.
In his cable, Premier Khamis affirmed that the distinguished relations of friendship and historic cooperation between ” our two countries have witnessed a significant development since the year 1944, and today we are moving towards a new stage of progress in all domains.”
Meanwhile, Medvedev, in his cable, asserted that the bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation is moving forwards and investment projects are being implemented in different domains.
He indicated that the joint work will contribute to enhancing cooperation and will create suitable circumstances for encouraging promising initiatives in different domains.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, also exchanged cables of congratulation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the same occasion.
Both sides underlined the deep-rootedness of the relations binding the two friendly countries and peoples which are witnessing a notable development on the level of combating terrorism and realizing peace and security in the region and the world.
