Damascus, SANA – Under the title “Yoga for Peace and Tranquility,” the Indian Embassy in Damascus, in cooperation with the General Sports Federation, on Friday organized an event marking International Day of Yoga at al-Jala’a Sports City in Damascus.

In a speech at the event, Ambassador of India Hifzur Rahman said that this activity represents a bridge between Indian and Syrian cultures and a method to relay messages of love, harmony, and peace, underlining the benefits of yoga in maintaining health and overcoming anxiety and depression.

In turn, Director of the Syrian Center for Yoga and Meditation Mazen Issa said the Center seeks to make yoga a part of Syrian social culture, noting that this event, which is a celebration of peace, is exactly what Syrians need after years of war on their country which caused social, psychological, and physical trauma.
