Damascus, SANA- Cuban Embassy in Damascus held on Monday a reception on the 60th anniversary of Latin American News Agency ( Prensa Latina ) foundation at the residence of the Ambassador in Damascus.
Ambassador Miguel Porto Parga described relations between Syria and Cuba as “deep and strong”, saying that the two friendly countries will celebrate the 54th anniversary of the establishment of mutual bilateral relations after several weeks.
He appreciated the efforts exerted by correspondents of Latin American Agency since the start of war on Syria in the face of the western fierce media campaign launched against it that aimed to distort the realities.
Pedro Garcia Fernandez, Director of Prensa Latina in Syria, said the Cuban agency has persistently worked to face the media misleading campaign launched by the US against the Cuban revolution.
In a statement to SANA, Fernandez pointed out to the strong cooperation between his agency and SANA, saying that SANA is considered as “our first and basic source of news.”
Prensa Latina was established in 1959 with the victory of the Cuban revolution. It has offices in 35 countries.
