MoU on documenting the Syrian archeological heritage

Damascus, SANA- The Directorate-General for Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) and Wathiqat Wattan Organization on Wednesday signed an MoU at al-Shamiea Hall in the Museum on Wednesday.

The MoU includes cooperation between the two sides to document Syrian material and non-material heritage and the sabotage acts that have caused to it due to the terrorist war on Syria.

Bouthaina Shaaban, Presidential Political and Media Advisor and Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Organization, said that the MoU will enable Wathiqat Wattan to document the Syrian antiquities and what happened to them during the war on the country.

Shaaban indicated that the aim of the project of Wathiqat Wattan is not only to inform the Syrians about what has taken place over the past years due to the war , but also to translate it into the live languages after obtaining information about that through the testimonies of people who lived the war.

Head of the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums, Mahmoud Hamoud affirmed the importance of the MoU in documenting the Syrian and Arab heritage, which has been subjected to destruction and theft at the hands of the Zionists who falsely attribute many of the heritage’s elements to them.

He pointed out that all the heritage’s elements will be documented by Wathiqat Wattan’s project with the aim of preserving the cultural heritage for future generations.
