Tehran, SANA- The 32nd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) was opened on Tuesday in Tehran under the title “Reading is an Ability” with the participation of publishers from several states including Syria.
“The fair is a step towards strengthening relations of amity and friendship between Iran and the peoples of the world,” Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister Mohsen Javad, who chairs the fair, said.
He added that 2400 local publishers, and 800 foreign publishers will showcase their cultural products directly or indirectly through activities of the current edition of the fair.
Javadi noted that the current edition of the fair will showcases 400 thousand titles, in addition to holding many cultural activities, adding that the fair contributes to supporting the publication industry, the international communication and the cultural diplomacy.
The 32nd edition of the event will officially open to the public on Wednesday and last for 10 days, wrapping up on May 4.
Tehran International Book Fair has turned into a landmark book fair in Middle East and Asia after holding 31 editions in a row.
Every year in April, an average of 3,200 local and 800 foreign publishers participate in the event. The foreign publishers substantially offer their materials in English or Arabic however titles in French, German, Chinese, Korean or Japanese are also available
