221 wanted persons turn themselves in, legal files of 84 gunmen settled

Damascus, SANA – 221 wanted persons from Damascus and its Countryside turned themselves in to authorities on Sunday so that they could have their legal status settled.

Meanwhile, the legal files of 84 gunmen from Homs city and countryside who had turned themselves in to authorities have been settled after they pledged to not get involved in any wrongdoing that might harm the homeland’s security.

The settlement benefited gunmen from several neighborhoods in Homs city, as well as the areas of al-Qusayr, Nakira, al-Ghanto, Talbiseh and al-Qaraytain.

There has been recently a noticeable surge in the number of wanted people and gunmen who turned themselves in to authorities in various provinces, bringing up to thousands the number of those who had or could have their legal status settled.

Much of this falls within the framework of efforts exerted by the government in cooperation with the reconciliation committees and the locals to achieve national reconciliations, a flurry of which has already been made.
