Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov asserted that the West is politicizing the issue of sending humanitarian aid to Syria in a time when Moscow is working on facilitating aid delivery.
In a statement on Wednesday at the International Relations Institute which is affiliated to the Foreign Ministry in Turkmenistan, Lavrov said “Russia works on creating suitable circumstances for the return of the displaced Syrians to their homeland, yet many of the Western states consider this approach as wrong in Syria.”
Lavrov added that the Western states don’t want the reconstruction in Syria and they send aid to the areas which are under the control of terrorist organizations, describing this behavior as adopting double standards policy.
During a session of the Security Council last December, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzya affirmed that politicizing the issue of sending humanitarian aid to Syria isn’t acceptable.
Nebenzya added that all states should lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria.
