Syria, Iran discuss enhancing economic cooperation and trade exchange

Damascus, SANA – Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Minister Atef Naddaf on Monday met Hassan Danaeifar, an advisor to First Vice-President of Iran and secretary of the joint committee on the economic development between Iran, Syria, and Iraq.

Naddaf discussed with Danaeifar and the accompanying delegations means to enhance economic cooperation and trade exchange, with the two sides stressing the need to elevate them to the level of political relations between the two countries.

They underlined the importance of increase exports and imports between the two countries, establishing joint investment projects, revitalizing shipping activity, and reactivating the free trade agreement.

The two sides agreed to have a team of Iranian experts assess the possibility of establishing a joint juice factor, in addition to providing a list of the Iranian goods and products that would enhance trade exchange.

Naddaf affirmed that the Syrian government is committed to providing support to Syrian and Iranian businessmen wishing to establish investment projects that contribute to the reconstruction process and enhancing bilateral relations.

In turn, Danaeifar said Iran is keen on establishing investment projects in Syria, as Iranian businessmen are very interested in this.
