Homs, SANA – The Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry on Friday put the Deir Attiyah 1 natural gas well in Deir Attiyah gas field into production, with an estimated production capacity of 150,000 cubic meters per day.
The Deir Attiyah 1 gas well, which has been renovated, is part of the project for investing in the gas wells north of Damascus. These wells, which are 3,741 meters deep, were dug in 2009 but were shut down during the crisis.
Engineer Maurice Hannoun said the well’s production capacity is being tested now, noting that the reserves in it that could be produced are estimated at around 4 billion cubic meters, adding that work is underway to connect it to the Qara and al-Breij fields north of Damascus.
After attending the relaunch of the well, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Ali Ghanem inspected work at al-Rihan station and progress in the maintenance of the South Central Region and Ebla gas plants.
