Premier al-Halqi inspects production sites and projects in Tartous

Tartous, SANA – The Prime Minister inspected on Friday a number of government production sites and projects in the coastal province of Tartous, on a tour that started yesterday with inaugurating a number of vital tourist and water projects valued SYP 22 billion.

One of the Primer’s stops was Tartous Port, at which Wael al-Halqi hailed the frequent ship movement as it reflects positively on the economic, trade and industrial activities in the country and “gives another indication that the stage of recovery has already started to take shape.”

He further noted that the ship movement at the port, which includes a container terminal of 252,000 square meters and grain and phosphate silos, reflects that the state has been able to successfully manage the crisis inasmuch as the movement included a surge in the flow of goods and food items.

Touring Banias Oil Refinery, al-Halqi expressed relief that the wheel of production has resumed, which would be reflected in securing oil derivatives in the market.

Another stop was at drinking water projects on al-Senn River, which irrigates an area of 900 hectares, where the Premier called for fast-tracking the needed works to maintain water supply in Tartous and neighboring Lattakia province.

Al-Halqi later visited two sites for the army and the Internal Security Forces and lauded the personnel’s “efforts and sacrifices” in the course of combating terrorism.
