Damascus International Fair, an opportunity for local companies to strengthen their presence

Damascus, SANA – Since the 1950s, Damascus International Fair presented an opportunity for local and foreign businesses to showcase their products, and now as the second Fair session after a 5-year hiatus is approaching, local companies are eager to use this event to prove their presence in the industrial and commercial arenas.

Hassan Antabli, Marketing Director at Como Company for electric switches and extensions, said that participating in the upcoming Fair is a necessity in terms of getting in touch with various elements in the economic field, and that his company’s main goal is to connect with participants from other countries, adding that the Fair is a very important part of the marketing process for local companies.

Ahmad Khattab, Exports Director at Makki Food Company which produces sweet, said that their company’s products have become a known brand abroad, and the Fair represents a chance to connect with others to further expand the company’s solid rate of exports.

Meanwhile, Mazen Malat, Director General of APF Company for electrical products, said that in terms of participating in the Fair, some companies give more value to promotion and exposure over profit made from retail during the event.

Ridha al-Khattab from Solid Shelf Company which produces shelving supplies for malls and warehouses, said the company’s participation in last year’s iteration of the Fair gave it more momentum and encouraged more communication with consumers, retailers, and companies interested in their products.

Mutaz al-Khouli, Marketing Director at Columbus Company which produces hot and cold beverages, mainly coffee, said that in addition to participating as an exhibitor, his company will be a hospitality sponsor during the Fair, providing drinks for visitors and exhibitors.

2018’s iteration of the Fair is witnessing an increase in the number of participating local companies, with 2000 exhibitors compared to 1562 in 2017.
