New York, SANA – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated calls for reaching a peaceful solution for the crisis in Syria, stressing the need to combat terrorism in a coordinated manner that complies with the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.
In a speech at the 69th session of the UN General Assembly on Saturday, Wang said that the crisis in Syria has been going on for four years, and that dialogue rather than fighting is the way to reach a solution, which is why China calls on all sides to end violence and cooperate with the UN to end the suffering of civilians.
He also asserted China’s opposition of all forms of terrorism and its readiness to cooperate to face the threat of terrorism, calling for avoiding the use of double standards in counterterrorism and to deal with the sources of extremism.
