Daraa, SANA – The Syrian Arab Army established control over the towns of Busr al-Harir and Malihat al-Atash in the northeastern countryside of Daraa province, inflicting heavy losses upon Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists, a military source said on Tuesday.
The source told SANA that army units, in cooperation with supporting forces, continued operations against Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists located east of Izra’a city, establishing control over the towns of Busr al-Harir and Malihat al-Atash, two of the terror organization’s strongholds in the area.
The source said that engineering units are clearing the two towns of landmines and explosives, as combat units are fortifying their positions in them in preparation for advancing against terrorists in nearby areas.
The source said the operations resulted in killing many terrorists from al-Nusra, destroying their equipment and weapons and seizing large amounts of weapons and ammo, along with a tank and two BMP vehicles.
To the south of Busr al-Harir, SANA’s war correspondent said that army units are advancing in Nahita towns, while other units advanced towards al-Hirak town east of Ghazala town, amidst a state of collapse in the ranks of terrorists.
The correspondent said that the operations are precise and are preceded by accurate artillery strikes against terrorist hideouts.
Terrorist groups’ social media pages acknowledged that 19 of their members were killed during the past two days as a result of the army’s operations in Daraa.
Later, units of the army launched intensive fire against terrorists’ positions and gatherings towards the grain silos southeastern of Daraa city with the aim of cutting off their supply routes.
SANA correspondent stated that the military operation has been launched to secure the army units’ advance against terrorists and cut off terrorists’ supply routes from the eastern countryside to Daraa al-Balad, and from Daraa al-Balad area towards the Jordanian borders.
Army units also foiled attacks with car bombs by Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists on military posts on the western and eastern outskirts of Daraa City.
A military source told SANA that terrorist groups led by Jabhat al-Nusra continued to undermine stability and security in the south and to prevent reaching local reconciliations through launching a number of terrorist suicide attacks with car bombs on army posts on the western and eastern outskirts of Daraa City.
The source added that army units confronted the terrorist attacks and carried out an operation against positions of Jabhat al-Nusra, inflicting heavy losses upon them.
The source noted that army units destroyed more than 10 four-wheeled cars equipped heavy machineguns in the operation, anti-aircraft cannons and many mortar launchers, tanks and BMP vehicles, in addition to seizing a number of vehicles belonging to the terrorists.
