Abdullahian: Fighting terrorism should not be exploited to violate states’ sovereignty

Tehran, SANA – The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed the necessity of being responsible and transparent in confronting terrorism and respecting peoples’ rights and all international conventions and principles in this regard.

The Ministry stated that it is watching closely the U.S. air strikes against terrorists’ positions in Syria.

For his part, Assistant Iranian Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, said that Iran will continue consultations with Syria and all regional and international parties, including the UN, to look into the results of the U.S. strikes.

He reiterated his country’s rejection of any military action on the Syrian territories without the permission of the Syrian government and adherence to the relevant international laws, adding that fighting terrorism shouldn’t be exploited to violate the national sovereignty of states.
