Lattakia, SANA – The Syria-Russia Friendship Park was inaugurated on Saturday in Lattakia city in an event held at al-Assad Sports City, in conjunction with the inauguration of a similar park in the Yalta city of Russia.
During the event, a number of olive trees were planted and a memorial was also unveiled as a symbol of peace and friendship ties between Russia and Syria.
The opening of the park represents the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Syria and Russia peoples, said Rifaat Mohammed, Secretary General of Lattakia governorate, adding that it is also a token of appreciation to Russia for its firm position and support to Syria in its war against global terrorism.
In turn, Mikhail Antoshkin, representative of the Russian side in the event, stressed that Russia enjoys a historically strong, stable, and friendly relationship with Syria, indicating that Russia has supported the Syrian leadership and people against all forms of aggression and terrorism.
