Damascus, SANA- The People’s Assembly convened Wednesday in a session headed by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh, discussing performance of the Communications and Technology Ministry.
The MPs called for speeding up the repair of telephone networks in the areas liberated by the Syrian Arab Army, especially in the towns and villages of Eastern Ghouta.
Responding to the inquires of MPs, Minister of Communications and Technology Dr. Ali al-Zafir said that the Ministry is working to restore the telephone and internet services to the liberated areas and improve their quality.
The Minister clarified that the Ministry is faced by a big challenge to restore the telephone and internet services to eastern Ghouta, pointing out that the ministry’s losses reached up to EUR 40 million while the communications’ losses exceed SYP 100 billion in Syria.
He pointed out that a telephone center in Saqba will be put into service soon, while a total of 13 centers in Eastern Ghouta are fully destroyed due to terrorism.
