Aleppo, SANA – Aleppo’s book club is a youth initiative launched by Shabab al-Shahba in an attempt to enhance cultural awareness, spread enlightened views and values and stress the role of books and reading in building well-educated generations.
Eight months have passed since the launching of the initiative during which 450 young male and females met regularly to discuss a book that they have read and express their opinions. The book is selected according to the percentage of votes on the club’s page through the social networking sites.
In a statement to SANA, a member from Aleppo Club Walid al-Shaeeb said that taking into account what has been taking place in Aleppo in the past few years, focus was laid on intangible heritage and the necessity of preserving it through choosing books on this issue.
