Moscow, SANA – The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the US attempts to blame the Syrian government for the use of chemical weapons are devoid of any logic, and that these attempts seek to save the terrorists they support from defeat.
In a statement on Friday regarding an unofficial US report submitted to the Security Council on January 9th containing the assessment of Russia’s position regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria, the Ministry said that the content of that report has nothing to do with reality and completely distorts Russia’s approaches to investigating such incidents.
The Ministry regretted that the American side distorted facts and published falsities in that report in what can only be an attempt to mislead those who read the report, particularly in light of the Russian position on the chemical incident that took place in Khan Sheikhoun on April 4th 2017, a position that relied on professional deductions by specialists presented in a clear and accurate manner.
The Ministry described the attempts to impose responsibility for chemical attacks in Syria on the Syrian government as “devoid of any logic,” stressing that continuing to make such accusations at a time when the Syrian Arab Army is making advances in the war against terrorism shows that the US is attempting to save the terrorists they support from defeat.
The statement called on the Security Council to show common sense and objectively assess the essence of the US attempts to present a false image of the perpetrators of chemical incidents in Syria.
