Head of Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society criticizes west’s double standards in classifying ISIS

Moscow, SANA – Head of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Sergei Stepashin criticized the contradictory positions of western countries including the United States when it comes to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as they acknowledge that it’s a terrorist organization in Iraq while claiming that it consists of “freedom fighters” in Syria.

In an interview given to SANA’s correspondent in Moscow on Friday, Stepashin said that President Bashar al-Assad is a legitimated president elected by the Syrian people, and it’s time for the west to realize this fact.

He vowed that the Society will continue to provide aid to Syria, with emphasis on rebuilding industrial facilities and infrastructure and economic cooperation.

In a press conference held in Friday earlier on Friday, Stepashin said that it has become clear that 36 countries have been sending mercenaries to topple the leadership in Syria, and that these countries failed to understand President al-Assad’s warnings regarding the threat of terrorism, something which U.S. President Barack Obama has only started to realize.
