Homs, SANA – A bazaar was kicked off Saturday at Safir Homs Hotel, on the occasion of conclusion of the16 Days of Activism to End Violence against Women campaign.
This year’s campaign, which was launched under the theme “Women’s education makes peace”, is sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and a number of NGOs working in several provinces.
The 3-day bazaar included a number of pavilions that show wool works, clothes, accessories, gifts and other handicrafts.
“The idea of the theme is connecting women to the labor market and moving away from the typical education, while the bazaar aimed at highlighting the work of UNFPA’s centers in all provinces and encouraging women to engage in income-generating activities, and prompting these activities,” UNFPA Syria Programme Specialist of gender-based violence programs Khawla al-Akel said in statement.
