Syria dismisses int’l coalition attacks as aimed at derailing army’s victories

Damascus, SANA – Syria expressed its strong condemnation of the war crimes committed by the international US-led coalition against innocent civilians in the country.

In a letter to the UN Secretary General and Head of the Security Council, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that the international coalition’s feverish quest to derail the victories of the Syrian Arab Army and its allies over Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization, whether through its air force and agents on the ground and the deals it makes with Daesh terrorists to attack positions of the Syrian army and its allies from sites where coalition forces are deployed confirms the suspicious role of the coalition and the danger it poses to the real efforts aimed at fighting Daesh.

The letter cited the latest of such attacks committed by the coalition’s planes on Saturday targeting residential sites in Tal al-Shaer area and al-Duwaiji village in Deir Ezzor where more than 10 civilians were killed and scores of others were injured, in addition to the massive material damage caused to the locals’ houses and properties.

The letter read that the coalition’s warplanes also targeted a car transporting paramedics who tried to help injured people, leaving all those who were onboard dead.

The Ministry denounced that many parties who claim to care for the rule of law and human rights turn a blind eye to the massacres committed by the coalition in the provinces of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, considering those sides involved in the coalition who have not associated themselves from its crimes as accomplices in them.

The Ministry concluded its letter by renewing the Syrian government’s demand that the Security Council shoulder its main responsibility of preserving international peace and security and take immediate action to stop the brutal crimes committed by the “illegal” coalition against the innocent civilians and prevent more crimes from happening.
