Moscow: Special representative of the Russian President, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Wednesday that establishing the four de-escalation zones in Syria create suitable conditions for the track of Geneva talks under the supervision of the UN.
“Bogdanov exchanged viewpoints with UN Deputy Special envoy for Syria Ramzi Ezz Edin Ramzi, during a meeting in Moscow, on the situation in Syria and aspects of pushing the political settlement forwards in light of UN Security Council resolution 2254,” Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It added that both sides affirmed that Astana platform is not an alternative to Geneva process, but it supports it.
The statement affirmed that the two sides showed special interest in preparing for a new round of talks in Geneva.
