Homs governor, UNHCR discuss enhancing joint cooperation

Homs, SANA- Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi discussed on Sunday with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Syria Sajad Malik the situation of relief and humanitarian work and means of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen the existing coordination between Syria and the International organization to ensure the return of the persons, who have been displaced due to terrorist attacks, to their homes in areas where security and stability have been restored.

The Governor hailed the efforts of the UNHCR in helping the Syrian people, particularly the displaced families, affirming the governorate’s keenness to support the NGOs’ works.

He pointed out that the governorate of Homs has implemented all programs and plans of international organizations in regards to humanitarian action in the country since 2014.

For his part, Malik was optimistic with the efforts exerted by Homs province regarding the cooperation and support offered to the UNHCR’s committees to facilitate their tasks in providing needs and assistance to those affected by the crisis, hoping work would be expanded to cover provinces of Homs and Hama.
