Lavrov calls on Syrian opposition to be realistic and renounce ultimatums

Abu Dhabi, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the need to fight terrorists relentlessly and in all their forms, as well as to crush the terrorist ideology and the ideology of extremism.

During a joint press conference with the United Arab Emirates’ counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan in Abu Dhabi, Lavrov called on the Syrian opposition to stay away from the language of threats and return to the dialogue table, stressing that his country supports efforts to unite the opposition, Sputnik reported.

“It is necessary for the opposition to behave realistically and renounce the ultimatums, which do not fit into the rules that have been approved by the UN Security Council” Lavrov said.

The Russian minister said that Moscow is interested in coordinating efforts with the UAE for resolving the crises in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.
