Final preparations to launch 59th edition of Damascus International Fair discussed

Damascus, SANA – A working meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, was held on Thursday to discuss the final preparations for launching the 59th edition of the Damascus International Fair on August 17th, including the final vision of the opening ceremony, accompanying artistic activities and procedures related to the transporting of visitors, addition to the media plan.

The meeting highlighted the necessity of fully completing the infrastructure work and handing over the pavilions to the participants and to provide all logistical requirements for the success of the exhibition.

For his part, the Director of the General Establishment for Exhibitions and International Markets, Fares Kartli, said that the Fairgrounds’ status is 90% ready and the pavilions have been handed over to the public and private sectors, adding that the opening ceremony and the shows throughout the exhibition will be outstanding, and that 42 countries have confirmed their participation so far and that the booked spaces reached 70,000 square meters.

Damascus International Fair, the Syrian economy’s window to the world, is brought back to life again after several years of forced absence due to the terrorist war inflicted upon the country.

The famous and well-reputed Fair has defied all the extremely harsh coercive economic measures imposed unilaterally on Syria to be revived and held on August 17-26, surpassing all the repercussions of the war and succeeding to attract many Arab and foreign companies to join its activities.
